I’m just another blogger

Published by Ruzanne on April 3rd, 2011

Yes, that’s me. The Oh!SomeAngels are bent on their weekly tasks and I’m left to hoping I’d be needed. :( That makes me sad. Kinda. Because I’m used to being sought, needed, wanted, desired… Uh… where’s this going?

Oh, well. I just came back from another tab that has my favorite bloggers on. A few minutes ago, I read J.K. Allen, the only Hustler! I know online. Hehehe. Peace, man! There’s something about his article that got me to finally admit… I’m just another blogger.

Sure, I know a lot – I mean, a whole lot! – about virtual assistants, how to be one, how to find one, how to like one and work with some. But lately, I’ve also been posting a lot about social media, stuff about the Oh!SomeAngels and bits n’ pieces that aren’t that relevant to this online service we provide.

So that got me thinking, I should be straight and out with these declarations:

1. We’re not taking any more work. In fact, we cut down to just three clients. That gives me even more time to write in here. So if you wonder who I am and why I’m commenting on your post, and then you’re obliged to drop by in here, don’t worry, I’m not hoping to acquire new gigs.

2. We’re not selling anything like eBooks, guides, etc. I haven’t come around to writing them. Good for you, I haven’t come around to creating autoresponders and stuff like that. Worry not, mate, that you’d be required to fill in some email forms and read on short promises that you’d get this and that. I have none to offer. See, I have nothing to sell.

3. We’re not making money online. Well, for now, not yet. I’m seriously thinking about affiliate marketing. But also, shouldn’t that go into another site? I wouldn’t want to confuse my thousands of fans (LOL!) about me and the Oh!SomeAngels doing other stuff apart from what virtual assistants do.

4. I’m making friends via blog commenting. Good if these people see it that way. After some considerable amount of backlinking tasks, most bloggers think newbies who make comments are a nuisance. Well, yeah, I’m a nuisance. Even my husband thinks so. But not because I just want to generate traffic. I express my thoughts via comment boxes because I want to connect with people. Even just through their blogs. There’s not too many things in here that they’d find new, anyways. Hey, I just wanna be friends and annoy you, OK!

5. I’m NOT AN EXPERT at anything. Yeah, even my sons have complaints on my motherhood. The husband, bless him, has gotten used to my claims of being an expert cook. I do love to write and share my experiences and information, some wisdom and stuff. But that doesn’t make me the best blogger or a guru at providing ideas for virtual assistants. Or for people who wanna know about VAs and online service providers.

So what does all these make me? Just another blogger. And honestly, I’m fine with that.

Up until that time we’d get a solely money-making website (dreaming isn’t a crime! haha!), I’m cool with being a blogger.

It’s stress-free. I get to bitch as much as I want to. And still, I get to share a few nice stuff every now and then. Because unlike the experts, the gurus, the established and the popular, there’s no pressure to be the best. Gawd, that would be hypertension-inducing!

I’m just another blogger with no competition and no nerve-wracking SEO targets. This is just another blog that even my Mom doesn’t read.  Which makes me just another blogger who actually have time to connect with others in all honesty and bitchiness… and not worry that I’d be considered just another blogger… because I am!

What, you’re not just another blogger Ruzanne. No way, not at all! I won’t accept that one. With your willingness to be this honest and to put yourself out there – this is not the mark of an average blogger. You are the example of being more than just a blogger. It’s these types of situations and examples that people learn from. Average bloggers just regurgitate information that they’ve heard someone else say. I think you are excellent, honest and you have a purpose.

So, I thank you for being a great example. I thank you for being highly honest and willing to express your feelings. You’re a high-end blogger on my list!
    PEACE

Oh, sweet JK. You make me wanna cry! LOL!
But really, THANKS so much for the kind words.
    Well, man… I try. I try.
And because people like you see more than just the blog,
it’s always inspiring to do more.

Again, thanks, JK! I hope to see you around more often!

    Ruzanne,

This post clearly indicates that you are far from being just another blogger. Based upon what I read you value relationships and content. Being open like this isn’t easy and guess what it’s what makes you different. When I started my site I thought I would be an overnight celebrity and when it didn’t happen I was devastated. Then I understood my purpose. My site was not about traffic, subscribers and e-books it became ministry. So, now I write with purpose. From what I read here, if it is true, it sounds like you have a purpose as well. Keep writing I can’t wait to read it.

Oh, Frank! What a lovely surprise you are! I am so overwhelmed with your words and JK’s as well. Sometimes, it does take other people to bang my head with warm truths about what we do. And how well we’re going our way.

Yes, I do value relationships and content, as much as I value sharing, teaching and guiding others, particularly those who wanna do VA works. But true, I did aspire to become an overnight celebrity as well. LOL! Didn’t we all?

Thanks so much, Frank! Though I still stand being just another blogger, knowing there’s a deeper purpose to it makes me happy with what I do. Also, I appreciate that you shared your experience in here. That’s a path I’d like to be on as well… and what fun and fulfilling trek that would be for us, huh!

    Oh! Ruzanne –

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Do you?

This post is so touching, so honest, so introspective… I just keep falling in love with you all over again. When you first visited my blog it did not enter my mind for one second that you were just a nuisance looking for link love.

You made a mark the minute you stopped by. You had me at hello :)

It seems to me that everything you touch screams creativity (a quiet, angel like scream that is). You are not just another blogger. Count me as one of your friends girlfriend.

Now you’re gonna make me really cry, Theresa! First, because of your kind words; second, because they’re true but I’m not yet that boastful to make such claim (TY for saving me! LOL); third, because you remind me of Tom Cruise’s movie; and fourth, because never did I imagine myself being friends with “big people” like you, JK, Frank, Bryan, Jonathan, Justin and many others… Hmmm… have I ever gotten anything from Marcus yet? Lemme check… Hahaha!

Really, Theresa… THANKS so much for being so warm and welcoming. You’re another reason why I shouldn’t bother so much with what I write. Just being myself really is fine. :)

    Hi Ruzanne,

This is my first time to your blog and from what I just read, there is no way in the world that I would classify you as just another blogger. I’m big on social media and connecting with other throught social networks. After reading this post I quickly see how much you value connecting and building relationships.

I laughed when I read “I’m not hoping to aquire any more gigs,” because it shows how genuine you are when you comment. That’s awesome!

I thought this was a great post, I look forward to more from you!

    Chelsea

Hi there, Chelsea! I’m so glad you dropped by and took the time! That makes you the 11th person to read my blog. LOL! Nah, j.k. Thanks for that and for your kind words. Yeah, I do value connections. They’re like affirmations we’re on the right way, that’s it’s fine to be who we are, and that what we do are actually shedding light on some matter. No need to be so “big and famous”… just persist on sharing and being happy about it. :)

Do come around again, Chelsea… I’d love that. BTW, where can I find you? I’d like to have virtual coffee with you someday. LOL!

  • http://bigfishtopdogs.com Theresa Bradley-Banta

Happy to save you Ruzanne! Just ask. Any. Time. You are so fun when you’re just being yourself! I bet it’s more fun to write that way too. Glad we met. Did I hear something about virtual coffee?

Yeah, I’m having a mug right now. The cheap stuff. But the fun part is about sipping while getting in touch with you all. I wonder when Chelsea (scroll up) and Frank and JK will be available for that. If so, I hope you guys like Monks’ Blend… it’s the best from where I am… *wink*
